NEWS

Our new all weather arena, 525' x 260',  will be ready for our May 17th Short Course event. We have also added a 100' x 400' warm up arena. We have a new water jump and the old one has been improved with walls and a new surface. There are 2 new banks as well as acres of new grass through the woods. The trees have been limbed and acres of ground has been graded and seeded for longer tracks through the woods.

MORE PARKING AT THE EVENT SITE!

We have expanded the parking to include more trailers in the Highlands.

New at Loch Moy Farm:  Short Course Eventing

Short Course Eventing/Event Derby compliments the sport of Horse Trials. It is a variation of the Combined Test concept by including Stadium Jumps in the Cross Country Course. Riders begin with a Dressage Test, followed by the combined jumping course. Jumping begins with Stadium fences on our grass Cross Country Course, then without stopping, continues out over solid cross country jumps, and back to finish over more Stadium fences.

The Maryland Horse Trials Short Course offers four levels of competition each increasing in distance and difficulty: Elementary (for Riders or Horse new to the sport of Eventing this year), Beginner Novice, Novice and Training Levels.

Cross Country Schooling

Our Cross Country Schooling course is available daily, by appointment. Please contact us to sign up.

The Highlands competition course is closed to prepare it for the October 13-14 Horse Trials. Many of the jumps are being moved. We are adding some new fences. We are topdressing, reseeding, fertilizing and watering. Capt. Mark Phillips is changing the course and Eric Bull will be here the first week of September with some new jumps and ready to build some new features. Look for great things to come!

Future Event Horse Classes offered at MDHT was a great success.

The Maryland Horse Trials at Loch Moy Farm held Future Event Horse classes at their event on the MDHT #2 weekend. The classes were open to yearlings, two-, and three-year-old young horses of any breed. More info on the FEH Classes can be found here.

The Maryland Horse Trials Summer Events

The summer USEA recognized horse trials are taking place on July 12 & 13, and July 19 & 20, 2008. We are in the process of changing and adding new fences to the competition courses for our USEA recognized events!

We need a lot of people on the ground during the Event. You could volunteer to be a scribe, a jump judge, a traffic and crowd controller, to paint jumps and much more. No experience necessary.

Volunteers are needed and greatly appreciated! Please contact Carolyn Mackintosh at 301-514-0111, or go to "Volunteers" link and fill out our volunteers form.
